  • GET INSPIRED #3 : Timber Camp for embracing nature

"Here at Gerflor, creativity does not happen by chance. Neither is it intuitive or spontaneous. Creativity is like a plant that we methodically and patiently nurture and feed every single day. We travel around the world in search of the latest underlying trends in fashion, design and architecture. After returning from our journeys, we build mood boards featuring a wealth of styles, colours and materials, which serve as an infinite source of inspiration for creating new products. They represent one of the key raw materials for our future collections. They are the lifeblood that feeds our brand identity and drives Gerflor to consistently develop a growing number of unique and innovative products."

    #The trend

The Timber Camp trend is all about the art of bringing a modern edge to the vintage style, while combining different materials. Just like a real factory, the accessories and finishes cover three main categories, namely wood, leather and concrete.

Take down the floral curtains and tidy away the scented candles and pastel prints. The industrial style promotes clean lines, hints of metal and eye-catching objects.

A room with large exposed beams on the ceiling or walls is the ideal place for creating an industrial look. For example, you can screw bolts into the beams. In addition, antique markets are the perfect place for unearthing hidden gems. Iron stools, metal & wood coat hangers and other accessories are available for easily creating your very own style.

    #The colours, the materials

Warm and neutral colours are generally the best choice for large and open interiors with an industrial feel. These colours will help bring a warm visual touch to a room that could otherwise be overwhelmed by the cold appearance of the metal pipes and ducts. Different grey tones can also produce an effective result.

Wood and concrete are great choices for truly embodying the Timber Camp design.

The Pub Dark reference in the Virtuo Collection is a shining example of this trend. Its powerful finish creates the sensation of a deep wood that has been left in its natural state. It offers exquisite shades of brown (from mahogany to deep brown) and creates a hyper-realistic wear effect. The ultra-matt varnish finish further enhances the untouched and natural aspect of the design, which is available in both the conventional format and XL planks.
