Gerflor floors in the French pavilion at the 2021 World Expo in Dubai

    Gerflor New Vn Expo Dubai

The World Expo will be held from October 1st, 2021 to March 31st, 2022 in Dubai, under the theme: "Connecting minds" and "Building the future" with a French pavilion.
It has been engineered with an original architecture and equipped with a large visor, a true ode to sustainable development.
190 countries will be gathered in Dubai to reflect, propose and implement concrete solutions for the benefit of mankind. Each country will have its own pavilion for the first time in history.

The French pavilion was designed by the architectural firms Atelier Perez Prado, Celnikier & Grabli Architects and the engineering firm OTE Ingénierie. It was built by Besix France, on the theme "Lumière, Lumières".  What makes it special? It is modular and was built using different materials from France, the Emirates and the Middle East.

Gerflor was approached by the Celnikier & Grabli architectural office in Paris thanks to our relationship of trust over the past ten years. And it was the beginning of a great adventure.
We carried out this project in partnership with Gerflor Middle East, that managed the installation of our floorings via their local partners.

In total, 2,500 sqm of flooring was installed in the French pavilion:

Gerflor Middle East also won 3 other contracts to install floorings in other pavilions:

    • Egypt, with 1700 m² of Taralay Premium
    • Singapore with 480 m² of  Mipolam Affinity.
    • Central square of the exhibition, Al Wasl Place, and in its restaurant with our LVT, Virtuo 30 clic.

The French pavilion will be dismantled after the exhibition and shipped back to France. Its final destination? Toulouse!  The CNES (Centre national d'études spatiales) has decided to buy these technological jewel to equip its Toulouse campus. A second life for our floorings !
